Tomorrow marks the 51st anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, an uprising that took place in New York City over the course of 6 days. NYC police raided a gay club on June 28, 1969, which sparked a week of protests and violent clashes with law enforcement outside of the club. These riots pioneered the gay rights movement both in the US and internationally. They are also the reason June became LGBTQ+ Pride Month.
Even though June is almost over, it’s important to recognize the history of Pride Month and the event that catalyzed the entire gay rights movement. Remember the people who fought so hard for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community and the journey ahead of us as we continue to fight for equality.
We still have Pride edition edibles available at The Reef from Kiva, Mr. Moxey, and Fruit Slabs. All three brands have committed to donating a portion of sales from these products to LGBTQ+ causes in California. Help us support these commitments and try these yummy treats!
Camino Gummies – Proud Tropical Punch
“In 2019, Kiva launched Tropical Punch Camino. Our lead product developer spearheaded this edible homage to her LGBTQ+ family as a proud labor of love. To honor this year’s Pride, we’ve brought Tropical Punch back and re-designed it taking inspiration from the LGBTQ+ community’s legacy of marches, parades and protests. Without their courage and commitment to justice and compassion, Kiva would not exist today.” – The Kiva Team
