Monterey residents, this could be your opportunity to advocate for dispensaries in your town! The City of Monterey is hosting two virtual town hall meetings to discuss the possibility of permitting cannabis operations, including retail, cultivation, manufacturing, events, and testing. Currently, cannabis operations have been approved in Seaside, Marina, Del Rey Oaks, and several unincorporated areas in the county, but Monterey has been resistant to the quickly growing industry, at least until now.
Two virtual meetings this month will allow residents to share their thoughts on allowing cannabis businesses to operate in Monterey. You can register here for one or both of these times:
- Tuesday, January 26 at 10:30am
- Thursday, January 28 at 7pm
The City has also just launched an online platform, Have Your Say Monterey. Here, residents, businesses and communities can learn about and voice their opinions on various topics facing the City of Monterey. One of the active projects, Commercial Cannabis, features a survey about allowing cannabis operations. The same survey will also be mailed to all residents at the end of the month.
To register for the town hall meetings and take the survey, go to haveyoursaymonterey.org/cannabis (Note that the deadline to complete the online survey is February 7, 2021)
